The thing about a "strong" "leader"? Eventually you'll be the one targeted when things get desperate enough. No matter how much you think you are the kind of person who wouldn't be.
The whole mentality behind this speaks to some notion that Trump supporters have about being rewarded, or favored by participating in the movement?
Maybe that's why some participate in rallies and advertise their allegiance?
— I think it's more nefarious than that. There are folks that have made Trumpism their identity, and this plays against the fear of being ex-communicated from the group.
People choose death over being ostracized, and the folk running this know that well. Being part of the larger group and showing allegiance is why so many look past logic and reason and continue to support the group.
Yes, their whole thing is obedience for the in-group, and punishment (or death) to the out-group.
