Q: If one says, “this coming weekend” on Wednesday (August 7, 2024), and “this weekend” on Thursday (August 8, 2024), does it mean Sat-Sun dated August 10 and 11, or August 17 and 18?

The way I understand it, “next weekend” if said on a Thursday, using the date example above, is August 17 and 18.
Not the weekend that is a day or two away; but the after it.
If it was said on a Tuesday, it naturally comes across for me as “this weekend”.
If said on a Wednesday, I have to clarify. LOL.
next weekend would be the 17th and 18th
this weekend would be 10th and 11th
the answer doesn’t change based on the day of the week
coming weekend would get someone slapped with an absolute calendar
