As the ocean near the #Florida Keys reaches temperatures of a hot tub, I find myself frustrated that while people "care" they don't change their heavy carbon ways.
I take #PublicTransit when possible, pay an extra few bucks for 100% Wind/Solar Electricity & keep my house at 78 during the day. Yeah, it's not the most convenient, but I'm trying to help offset my carbon footprint.
I get that it can be difficult, but it's worth trying in some areas. #SoapBox
@dylanlive how do you only pay an “extra few bucks” for 100% green energy? I would sign up for that in a heartbeat!
@jubjum Thanks for asking! I'm with Xcel Energy, so I did Windsource. Options are listed out here: https://my.xcelenergy.com/s/renewable
When I lived in Oakland, I did Renewable 100: https://ebce.org/service-plans-residential/
PGE also has solar plans: https://www.pge.com/en_US/residential/solar-and-vehicles/options/solar/solar-choice/solar-choice.page
I'd suggest googling "<Power Company> Renewable Energy"
@jubjum One other crazy fun fact -- I actually started saving money when I signed up for Windsource (~$3 cheaper).
It probably depends on your energy consumption, but when they credit me for the Fuel Transmission I didn't use, the Net Cost ends up saving me money. Your milage may vary
@dylanlive thank you for sharing. great idea. none available in my area, though. :(
@jubjum Too bad! Glad you took a look though <3
